MAGIC KINGDOM BUCKET LIST – 1 day itinerary
Should you stop to smell the cotton candy or run straight to space mountain? Do you queue up for that special meeting with Mickey or plunge to the depths of splash mountain? Eat 5 mickey bars or fill up on the refillable popcorn!? This is the magic of Magic Kingdom and I don’t want you to miss any of it. Let me help you discover all the park has to offer with my Magic Kingdom bucket list. The best part, you can check all these off in one day!
For the warriors looking to tackle as many rides as possible, view my ride review below. If you are staying at a Disney World onsite resort, take advantage of the perks they offer in order to fit more rides in. Book your Fastpasses 60 days in advance and visit Magic Kingdom on the day they are hosting Extra Magic Hours .
Don’t worry if you are staying offsite, you can still manage the park in a day! Here’s a quick list of the things you must see and do during your first visit to Magic Kingdom. I’ve created a PDF file that you can print off and take with you on the day of your visit! Just click the download link below the image.
PICK OUT THE PERFECT MICKEY EARS
One of the things I love about Disney World is that EVERYONE gets in the spirit. It’ doesn’t matter if you’re a macho body builder man or his little princess of a daughter. EVERYONE is wearing Mickey ears around the parks. Stop in at Le Chapeau or the Emporium on Main St to find a huge selection of ears and mickey hats!
RIDE THE 3 MOUNTAINS
No Magic Kingdom bucket list is complete without the 3 mountain rides! Get soaked on Splash Mountain. Blast off into the galaxy on Space Mountain. And finally, explore the wild west while riding Big Thunder Mountain!
GET A MICKEY SHAPED SNACK
Mickey bars tend to be a guest favourite. This ice cream treat is perfect to cool down on a hot day. I’m also a big fan of the Mickey shaped pretzels. They’re served warm and salty with a dip of your choice!
Why not try both, diets don’t exist in Disney World anyways! For best use of your Disney Snack credits all around Disney World check out my post below! https://decideddisney.com/using-snack-credits/
POSE WITH THE PURPLE WALL
This has been a classic instagram hot spot for park goers. The purple wall is located at the entrance of Tomorrowland. Normally the sun light shines here and the pastel background creates the perfect backdrop for your insta photo shoot! However, recent construction in the area has blocked that sunlight according to wdwnt.com. So you may want to wait until that is over! Perhaps there will be a new and exciting wall to pose with ! https://wdwnt.com/2020/03/photos-purple-wall-impacted-by-tomorrowland-re-theming-in-magic-kingdom/
TRY THE DOLE WHIP
You’ve probably heard all about the hype of Dole Whip. You can’t visit Magic Kingdom without trying this frozen pineapple treat. If you want something extra special, go for a dole whip float or try a flavour other than pineapple!
MEET A CHARACTER
You can’t complete a Magic Kingdom Bucket list without meeting at least one character. Since this is a one day itinerary, I wouldn’t suggest wasting any time in a meet and greet queue. They get pretty lengthy and you can find lots of other friends just wandering the park, ready for guest interactions ! So keep an eye out and get that cute character pic without the line up!
SELFIE IN FRONT OF THE CASTLE
Obviously, you aren’t leaving Disney without posing in front of the castle but let me give you some advice on getting the best shot! This is such a staple in your Disney trip that i’ve written an entire post on where and how to get the most magical castle pics! Check it out here, INSERT LINK
BROWSE THE SHOPS ON MAIN ST.
Shopping on Main St. for that perfect souvenir should be a part of everyone’s Magic Kingdom bucket list. Take some time away from the rides and lines to browse the shops full of clothing and accessories.
If you are in for a tasty treat visit the sweetest shop in Magic Kingdom, The Confectionary. You will find this scrumptious little shop on the corner of Main St. Watch them dip candy apples or take in the sugary scent of fresh cotton candy!
RIDE THE TRAIN
Hop on the Disney World Railroad and ride around Magic Kingdom. The railroad has been operating since the park opened and stops at different lands in the park. You can stay on for the whole loop which is about 20 minutes!
ORDER A PARK INSPIRED STARBUCKS DRINK
The only thing more fun than a fancy Starbucks drink, is one inspired by the Disney parks and characters. Try ordering the Cinderella latte if you want a magical pumpkin beverage! View my list of special drinks to try in each park! https://decideddisney.com/special-drinks-to-try-at-disney-world-starbucks-secret-menu-items/
WATCH A PARADE
Depending what season you are visiting the park, there are so many different parades Disney World puts on. Check the park flyer or app for parade times and make sure to find a seat along the route nice and early. You’ll want a good view of this magical performance! Make sure to get some pics of all the costumes, floats and your favourite characters!
SAY GOODBYE WITH THE HAPPILY EVER AFTER SHOW
Finally, complete your Magic Kingdom bucket list by watching the Happily Ever After show. There’s no send off more magical than the fireworks and a light show on the castle. Let this show be your goodnight and goodbye to the magic. Until next time!
I hope this bucket list helps you to have the perfect first visit to Magic Kingdom. And if you just can’t wait and want to get a head start I’ve attached a special suprise! Disney has shared a prerecorded Happily Ever After show for home viewing! Cast it to the big screen and bring the magic to your living room using the link below!
